About Herend China

The Herend factory was established in Hungary in 1826, close to when Hungary declared independence. Vince Stingl founded the then meager factory, initially producing stoneware and researching on porcelain making. They started manufacturing porcelain in 1839 under the leadership of owner, M'³r Fischer. Though not gaining due attention from the European market, Herend found numerous customers among the Hungarian aristocracy. It did not take much time for collectors and experts to analyze the value of Herend designs and they soon became an exclusive dishware range. Herend started off by creating ancient traditional Chinese patterns on their china. Though the designs were of Chinese origin, the Herend collections were still original in the over all look. The 1845 Vienna exhibition was the First Hungarian Applied Art Exhibition, followed by the London World Exhibition in 1851, the New York World Exhibition in 1853 and the Paris World Exhibition in 1855; all which brought high acclaim for the Herend work. They've been appreciated by royalty such as the Mexican emperor, Queen Victoria, Francis Joseph I and Maximillian among others. Their most well-known Herend patterns are Apponyi, Batthy'¡ny, Esterh'¡zy, and Rothschild. Herend works soon began appearing in museums and private collections. The Holy Crown of Herend is an extraordinary and exceptional porcelain article designed and produced by the Herend Porcelain Manufactory. A total of nine dedicated and highly skilled artists come together to create out of this world designs and intricate as well as simple patterns. From traditional porcelain designs to contemporary art and imaginative shapes and creations, these artists produce extraordinary pieces of porcelain. Herend's line of porcelain products include ornamental items, figurines, 'VH' figures, innovative masterpieces, and novelties.
