About Hummer

World's largest automobile manufacturer, General Motors, was founded in 1908. Currently, headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, USA, the company manufactures and sells automobiles such as a cars and pickup trucks under various brand names such as Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, GM Daewoo, and Vauxhall. The all terrain Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) called as the HumVee or Hummer V derives its name from the acronym, High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV). The original concept vehicle was manufactured for pure military applications; the later variants were introduced for general civilian usage. The first civilian model was launched in the year 1992 under the brand 'Hummer'. This brand name was later sold to General Motors (GM), which is licensed to market and distribute all Hummers manufactured by AM General. GM subsequently, introduced the H2 and H3, and renamed the original vehicle as H1. The H1 featured a large interior space that can accommodate five passengers with trim comfortable seats, stereo, and air conditioning. It is available in three versions namely a convertible-like soft top, a four-door hard top pickup truck, and a Wagon body version. It is equipped with a 6.2 Liters Detroit Diesel V8 engine, with 3-speed manual transmission for the maximum performance. The Hummer is an all terrain vehicle, which is very stable on account of its wide stance. It can ford 30 inches of water and can climb a 22-inch step. It is also equipped with a Central Tire Inflation System (CTIS) that allows the driver to increase or decrease the tire air pressure at will. The Hummer 2000 model is powered by a 6.5 Liters V8 engine that provides an engine displacement of 6.50 Liters. The geared hub allows the drivetrain's half shafts to be up high for greater clearance. It has an exterior, which is made of a unique combination of fiberglass, steel, and aluminum that makes its body very durable. Additionally, it also features power windows, power door locks, cruise control, and driveline protection rear window.
