Intellivision

Intellivision is the popular video game console on which a variety of enjoyable games can be played. In 1979, it was introduced by Mattel Electronics to the American consumers. Mattel Electronics is a subsidiary of Mattel Inc, a successful American toy company. This company is renowned for the Barbie product line among other brands. Elliot Handler and Harold Matson set up this company, in 1945. The product range has expanded since then to include toy cars, board games, and videogame consoles. The word Intellivision is derived from combination of the words 'intelligent,' and 'television.' Initially, this gaming console was available with only four games. Later the 'Las Vegas Poker,' and 'Blackjack,' games were included in the package. Then, Mattel went in for television advertisements, and they experienced considerable initial success. Their Intellivision platforms offered a rugged 3D (three-dimensional) look. The sound was realistic, and this console became popular among gamers. The upgrades of this gaming console made the platform more powerful, versatile, sleeker, and more compact. In 1983, the Intellivision II model featuring a sleeker case and removable controllers was introduced. The basic idea behind this introduction was to offer a less expensive alternative to their earlier designs. A flat membrane keyboard surface replaced the earlier elevated bubble keypad. This model has a computer adaptor with replacement power supply. A cartridge is required to be inserted for using this adaptor. One needs to select the 'Music,' or 'Basic,' option for making the keyboard active. There are several games offered with this package such as the NFL Football, Book Packman, Major League Baseball, etc. The life-like graphics, and the clear sound, make the Intellivision II, an excellent platform to play the latest video games.
