About Jetta

'Vw' stands for Volkswagen, a reputed brand in automobiles. Volkswagen manufactured a sedan version of their compact family car, and this vehicle was called the Volkswagen Jetta, since 1980. The first generation car, called A1 (1980-1984), appeared in 1980 in North America. It was available as a two-door coupe and a four-door sedan. The car was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. Jetta's engine was constantly upgraded from 1980 to 1984. It was initially powered by a 1.6L four-cylinder engine producing 78 hp (57 kW) and later, in 1984 it was upgraded to a 1.8 L engine producing 90hp (67 kW). A2 (1984-1992), which was a second generation model, was introduced first in Europe and then in North America after a year. The outer look of A2 was similar to A1. The first model of Jetta A2 had a 1.8 L gasoline engine I4, producing 85 hp. Later, the engine was improved to 100hp, and then to 134hp (99kW). A2 Jetta was the first Volkswagen model produced in China. A3, also known as Vento in Europe (1991-1998), was an advanced version of A2. A3 was only offered as a four-door sedan. Apart from that, it featured a new grille, body-colored rub strips, and different wheel covers. As a part of interior, it had a 6-CD player. The latest engine used in this series was a 6-cylinder engine producing 172 hp (128 kW). A4 (1998-2005) was a fourth generation Jetta that debuted in Europe and Latin America. A4 Jetta had a 1.9L TDI diesel engine. One of the models of the Jetta, called GLS, was packaged with 17' alloy wheels and a stiffer suspension. The model offered in 2004 by Vw was powered by a 1.8L engine and a six-speed manual transmission (changed to five-speed automatic transmission in 2005). The fifth generation Jetta was launched in January 2005 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. This car had independent suspension and was powered by 2.5L (24800 cc) I5 engine producing 110KW.
