Motley Crue is an American hard rock band from Los Angeles, California. They have sold over 41 million music records worldwide and more than 24 million albums in the United States. Motley Crue comprises of Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, Mick Mars, and Vince Neil. The band Motley Crue was formed in the year 1981 and released their self-produced debut album titled Too 'Fast for Love' in November that same year. The album sold 20,000 copies and was re-released on August 20, 1982 after being remixed by producer Roy Thomas Baker. The band grew popular with their outrageous costumes, heavy make-up, high-heeled boots, and their extensive drug and alcohol abuse. Their music style was a mix of metal and glam rock. Motley Crue released a range of top-selling albums all through the 1980s, such as 'Shout at the Devil' (October 15, 1983), 'Theatre of Pain' (July 13, 1985), and 'Girls, Girls, Girls' (June 13, 1987). Motley Crue's fifth album 'Dr. Feelgood' released on September 1, 1989. It was their only no 1 album and stayed on the charts for 109 weeks. They released their 6th album called 'Decade Of Decadence' on October 14, 1991. Their self titled album reached the top ten after its release in March 1994. Motley Crue released their album 'Generation Swine' in 1997; it debuted at no 4. Their latest studio release was 'New Tattoo' in 2000. The group released a compilation album titled 'Red, White & Cr'¼e' in February 2005. Motley Crue was often regarded as 'Hair Metal', which led the band to be critically banned by many in the music industry all through the 1980's. They have been a source of inspiration to many contemporary music artists. |
