Ultraman

Ultraman is a Japanese fictitious character created by Eiji Tsuburaya (also creator of Godzilla) for a series from Tsuburaya Productions. The series of episodes was called Ultra-Q, which contained heroic stories of Ultraman. Ultraman was the first being from M78. Ultraman always fought against monsters that invaded earth from other planets. He had some special powers such as growing over 200 feet tall and releasing various kinds of energy. He was also an expert in martial arts. However, he had a weakness in that his energy level would go down after a short fight. If he was not fighting, then he would become Hayata. Hayata was a ship's pilot who nearly died when his ship met with a collision. Ultraman not only saved him, but also gave him a cylindrical capsule with which he could become Ultraman whenever he wanted. He is known to have captured a monster called Bemlar and defeated many others. Not only could Ultraman fly like other Ultra-heroes, but he could also fire a special beam when he crossed his hands. Ultraman has a 'Color timer' or a 'warning light' on his chest. This color timer would give a warning light when his energy levels depleted. The timer would eventually make this dire announcement, 'If the warning light should stop blinking, it would mean that Ultraman would never rise again'. Ultraman was, however, defeated by Zetton. This gave rise to another Ultraman called Zoffy, who was the commanding chief of Hayata, and thereafter, the series of Ultraman was continued. Ultraman has gained immense popularity in Japan. As of today, Ultraman and other Ultra-heroes are supposed to protect the human race from different invasions by monsters.
