Launched in 1986, the Kawasaki 250R Ninja, commonly known as the EX250 in the US or the GPX250 around the world, is the most common entry level sports bike around the world. The bike still in production as of 2006, is designed purely for the sports bike enthusiast demanding a fair drive over normal paved roads with special ergonomics, chassis structure, and engine placement. The Ninja weighs above 300 lb with a 250cc of engine displacement, with counter balancing equipment and water-cooling at its heart. The bike has a twin-cylinder engine generating 36 HP, capable of achieving speeds exceeding 80 mph with a fuel efficiency ranging between 55 to 75 miles per gallon US. It can achieve a maximum speed of 100 mph. With the engine capable of revolving at a maximum 14,000 rpm, directed towards a 6-speed gearbox, the bike is considerably faster for its displacement. The bike has factory built front and rear disk brakes and the Kawasaki 'Uni-Trak®' rear suspension system for advanced stability and handling. The bike was initially launched as the EX250-E in 1986 and 1987 followed by the EX250-F since 1988 up to the present date. It was sold in the regions of USA and Australia till 1988 after which the sales had been extended to other parts of the world. The Ex250-H model was exceptionally launched in regions around the world except in USA and Canada. The improved version made it to Canada in 2000, while USA subjected to an improvised version of the EX250-F popularly known as the ZZR-250.
