Initially Japanese motorcycle manufacturer, Yamaha Motor Company Limited, was a subsidiary of Yamaha Corporation, the world's largest piano manufacturer. The company gained foothold in the motorized vehicles market from July 1, 1955. The company is currently the second largest manufacturer of motorcycles in the world. Other motorized vehicles manufactured by Yamaha are the all-terrain vehicles, boats, snowmobiles, outboard motors, and personal watercraft. First introduced in the year 1999, the Yamaha YZF-R6 has been revised in the years 2001, 2003 and 2006. The bike is said to be metaphorically a crossover design between Samurai armor and a modern age motorcycle. The bike weighs in at 357 pounds housing a 600 cc engine capable of generating 150 BHP at 13,000 RPM. The engine used in the YZF-R6 is a 4-stroke, in-line 4-cylinder, 16-valve, DOHC engine with a displacement of 600 cc. The engine cooling system is an advanced liquid-cooling solution, designed to keep the engine cool even at higher RPMs. The bike has a 6-speed close-ratio with slipper clutch for smoother transmission complementing the overtly-powerful engine. The deceleration assembly or the braking system uses, Dual disc braking system with hydraulic calipers on both the front and rear wheels. The specially crafted Monocross suspension system offers full adjustability for high-speed, low-speed, and rebound damping. The microprocessor controlled fuel-injection system has an additional secondary injector. The rated top speed of the bike is 156 MPH.
