Yamaha Motor Company Limited is an internationally renowned Japanese manufacturer of motorized vehicles such as all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), boats, motorcycles, and snowmobiles. Established in 1955, this company currently ranks among the largest producers of motorcycles in the world. In 1958, Yamaha became the first Japanese producer to enter in the field of international motor racing. Their impressive performances in these races earned them recognition as providers of high-level technology. Their early reputation in the 1960s was based on the quality of their light two-stroke bikes such as the 250cc YDS, and the 350cc YR1. By the end of that decade they ventured into the four stroke motorcycle market with the introduction of the 650cc XS-1 road bike.

Introduced in 1981, the Yamaha Virago, a V-twin-powered cruiser-style motorcycle was unique as it had single shock rear suspension and was originally sold with 750cc engine. Over the years it underwent modifications was launched in 500cc, and 920cc versions. This motorcycle went through design changes in 1984, and the single-shock rear suspension was now changed to dual-shock rear suspension.

The 535cc Virago had a four-stroke, air-cooled engine that had a five speed transmission. The engine used was 4-cylinder V-engine capable of providing 44 HP at 7,500 RPM. The engine had a 535 cc and provided a torque of 48 ft-lbs at 6,000 RPM. It had a single disc brake in the front, and an expanding brake at the rear. There was a low seat and a comfortable backrest. The riding experience was further enhanced by the easy maneuverability, and smooth acceleration. The Yamaha Virago 535 is coated with shiny chrome, which adds to the attractiveness of this vehicle.
