The pearl corporation manufactures drumming equipments such as drum kits, hand drums, mallet percussions, etc. The pearl corporation was established by Katsumi Yanagisawa on April 2, 1946. He started manufacturing music stands in Tokyo, Japan. He concentrated on the manufacture of drums in 1950 and renamed his company 'Pearl Industry Limited'. However, in 1953, the company was again renamed to 'Pearl Musical Instrument Company' and the production was extended to making drum kits, marching drums, timpani, Latin drumming instruments, cymbals, stands, and other accessories. Increase in the demand for rock 'n roll music was reciprocal to the demand of Pearl drum kits. The kits made by Pearl drums then, were much affordable. In the year 1965, Mitsuo, the son of Katsumi Yanagisawa, started expanding his firm on a world wide base and in the immediate next year Pearl drum introduced the first professional drum kit manufactured by them. This kit was named the 'President Series'. Today; Pearl drum has successfully achieved its goal of supplying their drum kits to almost the entire world. Pearl drum produces nine series of drum kits, which range from entry level to professional grade. The first one is called the Rhythm Traveler, which includes cymbals, throne, hardware, mesh heads, and cymbal mutes. Next in the series is the target, which is available in three 5pc kit. Forum, which includes cymbals, throne, hardware, and drumsticks, comes after target. Next is Export, which is available in three series. Session is a much higher quality drum kit than the ones mentioned above. Masters, as the name suggests is much more professional drum kit. It is available in 5 series. The reference was released in January 2005. In 2006, the reference steel and bass snare was included in this kit. The most professional drum kit produced by Pearl drum is called Masterworks, which a completely hand made drum kit. |
