Armoire is a French word that refers to any tall, standalone ornated cupboard (a type of cabinet often made of wood used indoors to store food crockery or clothes to protect them from becoming dirty).They are usually rectangle or square in shape and can be narrow or broad as per the requirement.
It was first used in the 16th century to store arms and armor and in the 21st century it depends on the limit of the user’s imagination. They usually come with doors providing hanging space with shelves or with drawers. They come in different sizes, small size armories with drawers look good in the drawing room of ones house enhancing the corner of the house near the couch or can also be kept in the bedroom, to keep small objects such as remote controls, cable wires, spectacles, medicines etc and larger armoires with wooden carved designs enhances ones bedroom and gives a royal look to the bedroom. Armoires come in different colors, polishes, wooden doors (ebony, rose wood etc) or glass doors, with different designs carved on them.
There are different types of armoires to name a few, bedroom furniture armoire, computer desk armoire, jewelry armoire, TV armoire, Book shelf armoire etc. Antique armories usually come with wooden doors with designs carved on them and are very rare in number. The main purpose of these armories was storage of arms and armor. Now a days these armories are used for storing clothes, Stereo systems, books etc. It enhances the beauty of a house decorated with all ancient furniture’s. |
