| Paul Sunich Frank is a well-known fashion designer. Until 2005, Paul Frank served as the creative director of Paul Frank Industries, Inc., which produces clothing and many other products. In 1972, he attended Sun View Elementary School in Huntington Beach, CA. The school building was painted in bright colors such as rusty orange, light blue and gold-yellow, which he acknowledges has influenced his work along with industrial designers. His style developed as a result of his love for music such as The Who, The Rolling Stones, and The Velvet Underground. During the 1990s, Paul Frank was an art student at Orange Coast College.
Paul Frank continued to work during the day; however, he sold his products in his spare time to make some money. His friend Ryan Heuser borrowed $5000 from his stepmother to help Frank obtain a license and a resale number. Paul Frank has collaborated with several bands such The Aquabats, Bad Religion, Radiohead, The Vandals and many more. Besides co-branding and licensing affiliations with bands, the company has had several tie-ups with Mattel, Oscar Mayer, Elvis Presley, Andy Warhol, John Deere Hello Kitty, and Nirve Bicycles. In 2004, Paul Frank added Small Paul, a line of clothing for kids. Along with “Julius’ the monkey, Paul Frank has several well-known and established characters such as “Skurvy”, a skull and bones character; “Clancy”, “Worry Bear”, “Vic” the snail, “Ellie”, “Mr. Owi” and many more. Featured in numerous movies, the characters and cartoons are most notable in the third part of the “Austin Powers” series.
Paul Frank Industries, Inc. is currently planning a collaboration with Warner Bros for launching a series of cartoons found on the Paul Frank website. The company is one of the most well-established ones dealing with clothing and several other products. Their line of clothing is not only part of Paul Frank’s lifestyle but also of the upcoming youth. |
