Seven For All Mankind was founded by two visionary designers, Jerome Dahan and Michael Glasser. These fashion pioneers created this company based on what was, at the time, a revolutionary premise. They believed that the baggy jeans of the 1990s were over and that the next new thing was designer jeans for women and men that fit well and fit tight. Seven For All Mankind jeans--especially Seven women's jeans--helped to re-popularize the denim style, which had largely faded in the 1980s and 1990s. The company is based out of Vernon, California, which is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Los Angeles, the fashion capital of the west coast. Together with designers like Larissa Noble and Tim Kaeding, Seven For All Mankind's founders reached out to hip, urban adults in the Los Angeles area. At first, the brand focused on boutique sales, but then it expanded to department retailers. Seven manufactures and sells men's and women's bootcut jeans, flare jeans, and straight leg jeans, and you can find the sweeping Seven logo on all original brand products. Many credit the company with breathing new life into the vintage jeans look. Distressed, ripped, and discolored denim wear had been popular before, but the look had for the most part been the purview of the casual. Seven For All Mankind, Diesel, and other forward-thinking apparel designers helped transform the denim industry. Given that the company has only been around since the year 2000, this is an enormous accomplishment. |
