Well, Acer is the official supplier to the Ferrari Formula One team; hence, it endorses the Italian car company signature on some of its products. The Ferrari 4005 is a more subtle approach by Acer than its forefather, the Ferrari 3200, which has striking red exteriors. It has a carbon fiber weave top panel with red side trim highlights.
The AMD Turion Athlon64 mobile processor purrs this laptop to life. The 2.0GHz Turion64 adapts well with both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems and programs. The keyboard has a matt rubber surround, mimicking the feel of Formula One tires. The curved ergonomic keyboard enhances comfort during its use. The wireless Bluetooth optical mouse liberates the user’s movement. Its 15.4” widescreen LCD has a high resolution of 1,280x800 pixels for the low-end model and 1,680x 1,050 pixels for the high-end one. The Ferrari 4005 has a slot loading model of DVD-Super Multi double-layer optical drive. Acer selected ATI's RADEON X700 video chip with 128-bit video RAM for 4005. It has a 56K internal modem. It also includes four USB 2.0 ports, 10/100/1000 MBps LAN, Infra Red, FireWire, audio in/out, and a 5-in-1 integrated card reader supporting Secure Digital(SD), Multimedia card (MMC), Memory Stick, Memory Stick ProT and xD- picture CardT.
The WiFi connectivity, offered by Broadcom’s 802.11G wireless interface, features Broadcom’s ‘afterburner’ Enhanced-G technology. The antenna of the Ferrari 4005 uses Acer’s SignalUp technology based on planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA). The Ferrari 4005 features a multi-monitor concept on a single screen called GridVista. Weighing 6.3 pounds, Acer’s Ferrari 4005 is slim, portable and robust. It has a thickness of 1.4 inches with little pegs that emerge from the bottom, and a battery life of 2 to 3.5 hours. |
