eMachines was launched in 1998, and is based at Irvine, California. The brand aims at manufacturing low-cost, affordable PCs with high-features that give solid performance. The company had around 135 employees and managed to sell almost 2 million computers a year. On January 30, 2004, it was acquired by rival company, Gateway Computers.
