Shellcraft is a fun activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Do you love the beach and ocean? Better yet, do you take pleasure in collecting sea shells as you walk along your favorite beach spots? You do not have to live by the beach to love seashells. Shellcraft allows those who live hundreds of miles inland to bring the beach to their own homes. If you do not live close enough to collect your own shells, you can purchase them pretty affordably. There is a vast world of beautiful seashells available. You can find shells of all sizes, shapes, weights and colors. Some hobbyists enjoy searching for exotic shells not typically found in the sand at local beaches. Oversized conchs, for example, are difficult to find unless you are snorkeling or scuba diving. Other large seashells that will add greatly to your shellcraft include abalones, sea urchins, tritons, turbos, helmets and murex. Coral snail shells are very exotic and make nice little accents on intricate shellcrafting projects. Other shell and sea creature items that may greatly accent your shellcraft includes sea horses, sand dollars, star fish, miters, top shells, polished clams and scallops. There are endless shellcrafting activities you can do using seashells. One idea is to glue various shells around a plain candle. You can create a unique pattern and even paint them if you choose. You might also decide that you want to glue shells around a frame that you then place in a picture from your beach trip. Necklaces, earrings and bracelets can also be made using various shells. There are a ton of shellcraft projects, all you need is your imagination! |
