Ally Sheedy is a famous American stage and film actress. She is renowned for her performances in movies such as “The Breakfast Club”, and “St. Elmo’s Fire”. Ally Sheedy was born in New York on June 13, 1962. Her full name is Alexandra Elizabeth Sheedy. Her father, John Sheedy, a catholic, was an advertising executive while her mother, Charlotte Baum, was a Jewish literary agent. Patrick and Meghan are Ally’s siblings. Ally was only six-year-old when she began dancing with the American Ballet Theatre.
At the early age of twelve, Ally wrote a book entitled “She was nice to mice” that was published by McGraw Hill. The children’s book soon became a bestseller. After graduating from High School, the young author enrolled at the University of Southern California as a drama major. Soon, she received significant roles in the television films “Splendor in the Grass”, and “The Best Little Girl in the World”. She launched her acting career with a role in the 1983 NBC series, “Hill Street Blues”.
In 1983, Ally bagged her first big roles in “Bad Boys” and “War Games”, in which the lead male actors were Sean Penn and Mathew Broderick, respectively. Since then, she has acted in over 50 films such as “Oxford Blues”, “Maid to Order”, “Twice in a Lifetime”, and “Short Circuit”. She married actor David Lansbury in 1992. The National Society of Film Critics recently bestowed her with the Best Actress award for her role in “Fine Art”, for which she also received an award from the Independent Spirit Awards. |
