| The Dukes of Hazzard is a television series that initially aired on the CBS television network from 1979 to 1985. It was directed by Jack Starrett who also directed Starsky and Hutch. The Dukes of Hazzard series follows the adventures of two boys, Bo and Luke Duke. They live in a non-organized part of fictional Hazzard County, Georgia. The boys race around in their 1969 Dodge Charger, affectionately called The General Lee, evading the corrupt Boss Hogg and his incompetent county sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane. They have also been sentenced to probation for the illegal transportation of moonshine. The sequence of many episodes revolves around the Boss engaged in illegal activities. On some occasions, the Boss would plot against Bo and Luke and try to frame them for crimes such as bank robberies. Bo and Luke would have to uncover the wicked plots setup by the Boss and foil the criminals. Occasionally, the Boss would also be targeted by former associates who are seeking revenge or have turned against the Boss. Bo and Luke almost always come to the rescue of their local Hazzard antagonist before defeating the bad guys. The television series was an adaptation of the movie ‘Moonrunners’ which released in 1975. The movie was based on the life of Jerry Rushing. The film ‘The Dukes of Hazzard: Reunion’ released in 1997 and ‘The Dukes of Hazzard: Hazzard in Hollywood’ released in 2000. A big screen remake of “The Dukes of Hazzard” was released in 2005 and starred Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott. |
