Eddie Murphy was born as Edward Regan Murphy on April 3, 1961 in Brooklyn, New York. He lost his biological father at a very young age and was brought up by his mother Lillian Murphy, a telephone-company employee and his stepfather Vernon Lynch, a foreman at a Breyers Ice Cream plant.
