| Released in 2006, Final Destination 3 is a sequel to the previous Final Destination movies, Final Destination and Final Destination 2 which are a series of horror movies. The plot in this series revolves around a group of teenagers, who manage to cheat death but get entrapped in a series of bizarre coincidences that lead to their deaths one by one. The protagonist of the movie envisions the scene of their deaths prior to a certain event. Thus avoiding the event and also convincing some friends to do the same. She then decodes a certain ‘pattern of death’, according to which everyone has a certain time to die; but now that they’ve avoided the catastrophe they still are in danger of dying in the same ‘pattern of death’. In Final Destination 3: This Ride Will Be the Death of You, Wendy Christensen envisions a similar fate for her and her friends just before riding a roller coaster called ‘The Devil’s Flight’. Therefore she and a group of friends get off the roller coater, only to watch in horror as the people still on the roller coater die as one wheels of the roller coaster comes undone. Wendy, who’s a photographer, soon discovers the foretelling of the deaths of her friends in the pictures she’d taken of them; hence deciphering the ‘pattern of death’ or the order she and her friends are to die. Both previous Final Destination and Final Destination 2 have been well received by movie watchers and have a fair amount of fan following. Final Destination 3, within the first four months of its release, has already grossed over $54 million in the US and over $31.7 million overseas, outdoing the first two installments put together. |
