Bratz are the fashionistas of the doll world. In fact, they are known as girls with a "passion for fashion." Based on teenage characters with names like Yasmin, Chloe, Jade and Roxxi, these dolls are a part of the hip-hop generation. As such, Bratz represent a new twist on the traditional teenage dolls. Everything about the characteristics of Bratz is exaggerated. They have big eyes, big lips and wear lots of makeup. Bratz wear fashions reminiscent of the current pop and hip-hop stars like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera or J.Lo. They sport crop tops, mini skirts, knee high boots and funky caps. The doll is even designed to stand upright on its own to model the fashions. As the popularity of Bratz grows, so does the product line. An animated Bratz television series now airs on the FOX Saturday morning cartoon line-up. Bratz Magazine has taken the UK by storm and it was recently introduced in the United States. There are also additional toy lines like Baby Bratz, Bratz Boys and Bratz Pets. All of the Bratz toys sport the same rock 'n roll attitude of the original characters. Bratz dolls encourage girls to take an interest in style and fashion trends. The dolls were originally intended to entice older girls to maintain an interest in doll play, but it was younger girls who really took a liking to the dolls. They are attracted to the dolls' sophisticated sense of style, rooted in Hollywood entertainment. Bratz dolls are a fun, spunky addition to any doll collection. |
