Guitarist Billy Howerdel who had played for bands such as Nine Inch Nails, The Smashing Pumpkins, Fishbone, Guns N Roses, and Tool formed the alternative rock band called ‘A Perfect Circle,’ in 1999. Billy Howerdel is the songwriter, and producer for this band. He met Maynard James Keenan in 1992 before accepting Keenan’s offer to join as the singer of the A Perfect Circle. Other members of the band include James Iha, Josh Freese, and Jeordie White. Their debut album was called “Mer de Noms” meaning ‘sea of names’ in French.
On 16th September 2003 the band released their second album called ‘Thirteenth Step,’ and the third album called ‘eMOTIVe’ was released on 2nd November 2004. A Perfect Circle usually also called APC released CD, and DVDs of their ‘eMOTIVe’ album, which featured remixes, music videos, and some formerly unreleased videos of the band. This album also contains some anti-war songs by artists such as John Lennon, and Joni Mitchell. The official website of the band has been updated, in September 2006.

Posters of the band bearing the logo of many circles entangled together are quite popular.
