| "I am definitely less green than I was back then. What I meant by that was that I wasn't an actor and really at that point had no intention of continuing to pursue acting. What I did in "Rent" was just very natural. From day one I just connected to the role and the music and I think that's why I was successful in it." -Adam Pascal
“Rent”, the play, witnessed its lead character, Roger Davis, scream and yell a lot. Roger was a dark and gloomy guy, but very much likeable; he had so much passion and fire within himself. Adam Pascal, who played the role of Roger, made his debut as well as got the biggest and most successful break in his career. Pascal’s performance in “Rent” earned him a Tony nomination, a Theatre World Award, and also an Obie Award.
Adam Pascal was born in the Bronx. He was, however, raised at Syosset on Long Island , New York. Adam Pascal had a passion for music and wanted to make music his career. He used to play along with his schoolmates and was part of the local bands. He always tried to emulate his rock idols — Pink Floyd, Queensryche, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. “Rent” just happened to be a piece of luck that came his way, earning him a lot of recognition in the theatre world. However, getting back to rock music became a little difficult for Pascal and he was typecast as a Broadway singer. Nevertheless, he soon signed a contract with Sh-K-Boom Records and bounced back as a rock singer. “Rent” is now being remade as a movie and casts Pascal, once again, as Roger Davis.
Pascal is married to playwright Cybele Chivan and has two children, Lennon and Montgomery. |
