Alessandra Ambrosio is a Brazilian supermodel and one of the few faces of Next, Guess? And Victoria’s Secret. This beauty is part of the new Brazilian invasion of Amazonian supermodels that was triggered by Gisele Bundchen. At 19 years of age, Alessandra is already half a decade distant from the peaceful village in which she was born.
Born on 11th April, 1981 in Erexim, Brazil, Alessandra started her career when she decided to join modeling classes in Brazil. This course led her to the participating in the Elite’s Look of the Year contest in 1996. Though she did not win the contest, it eventually led her to a contract with Elite Model Management. When Guess? looked at her shots, the apparel line signed her immediately for their advertising campaign. Alessandra Ambrosio proved to be much more than the Guess? girl. She graced the cover pages of magazines like Desfile, Capricho, Wallpaper, Harper’s Bazaar (Spanish) and Elle (Brazil). Alessandra is also known for have walked the ramp for big designers as Christian Lacroix, Laura Biagiotti, Byblos, Issey Miyake, Fendi, Christian Dior, Kenzo, Oscar de la Renta and Nicole Miller, among others. Her sheer talent and beauty was also recognized by contracts with Gap, Revlon cosmetics, and the most recent Giorgio Armani and Calvin Klein. She has also worked for Victoria’s Secret, once an Elite girl, Alessandra has switched agencies and is currently represented by Marilyn Gaultier.
Though her modeling career graph is shooting upwards, Alessandra plans to complete her education and pursue a University degree. Have traveled the world over, Alessandra still prefers her tiny hometown as the perfect place for her.
