David Caruso was born in Queens, New York on January 7, 1956. An accomplished actor, Caruso made one of his first movie appearances in ‘Getting Wasted’ in 1980, but he was only visibly noticed in the highly acclaimed movie ‘An Officer and a Gentleman’. He then embarked on a series of television roles such as ‘For Love and Honor’ (1983), ‘Crime Story’ (1986-1988), and ‘Rainbow Drive’ (1990). He was most noticed for his portrayal of Lt. John Kelly in the hit TV series ‘NYPD Blue’ for which he won a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award nomination. But what he is most remembered for is his decision to quit ‘NYPD Blue’, while it was in its peak viewership season. He left the show to pursue a career in films, a decision that may not have worked out as he may have hoped.
His line up of film roles after ‘NYPD Blue’ include ‘Kiss Of Death’, ‘Jade’, ‘Body Count’, ‘First Blood’, ‘Proof Of Life’, and ‘Session 9’. His career came back on track when he bagged a pivotal role in the now hit television series ‘CSI: Miami’. He plays the role of Lieutenant Horatio Caine, a tuff homicide detective who believes that “power resides in one’s mind, not in one’s hand”. His character is a gut trusting, three dimensional thinker, who rapidly solves the most complicated homicide cases. He also appeared in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: New York as Lieutenant Horatio Caine, making him the only member of the CSI cast team to appear in all the CSI series as his original character.
Caruso was also the executive producer for the television shows ‘7th On Sixth: Inside Fashion Week’ (1999) and ‘Michael Hayes’ (1997). He is the father of two children, a daughter, Greta with his second wife, Rachel Ticotin and a son, Marquez Anthony with his girlfriend, Liza Marquez. |
