Nicole Mary Kidman was born on June 20, 1967 in Hawaii to Anthony, the clinical psychologist and Janelle Kidman, the nursing instructor. She took her ballet lessons at a very young age and studied at Sydney’s Australian Theatre where she majored in history and voice production. Nichole had to drop out from her High School to take care of her family as her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had also studied physical therapy to help her mother.
Nicole has appeared in Australian movies and soap operas including but not restricted to Emerald City, Bangkok Hilton and A Country Practice. She has received many nominations and has been honored the Best Actress awards for her several films. Her singing talent was appreciated during her performance in the movie Moulin Rouge in which she plays the role of a Courtesan and lover of a poor writer. The song Something Stupid, the number one hit record was sung by Nichole alongside Robbie Williams. She also joined Ewan McGregor on the song Come What May. Nichole married Tom Cruise whom she had met during the filming of Days of Thunder in 1990 and the couple adopted two kids Isabella Jane and Connor Antony. The couple got divorced in early 2001. Kidman was presented Australia's highest civilian honor on January 26, 2006 for her enormous charity work and her service to performing arts. She was appointed as an ambassador for UNIFEM. She took part in Breast Cancer Care Campaign to raise money for treatment of breast cancer. |
