| W. D. "Bo" Randall was an ardent outdoors person who wanted to create knives that were both simple and functional. He started making knives as a hobby. His passion for crafting knives began in the summer of 1937 when he came across a handmade knife crafted by W. C. Scagel, who is considered the pioneer of handmade knives.
At the time when practically all knives were mass produced, Randall took it upon himself to develop handmade knives that were dependable. His first knife was a simple blade ground from a file. He began selling his knives at his father-in-law’s clothing store in Orlando. During the Second World War, Randall made a knife for a young sailor who needed a knife for man-to-man combat. The popularity of Randall Made Knives soared after a reporter wrote about these knives that were used in combat. All Randall Made Knives are carefully designed with factors such as length, weight, and thickness taken into consideration so that the knife is perfectly balanced and proportionate. Their range of over 45 models can accomplish almost any task wherein a knife would be required. This range of knives is categorized under Outdoorsman knives, skinning and hunting knives, saltwater knives, survival knives, military style knives, bowie knives, carving set and steak knife, and sheaths.
W. D. "Bo" Randall passed away at his residence on December 25, 1989. The legacy of Randall Made Knives is now continued by his son Gary Randall, who managed the business alongside his father for over twenty five years. |
