The master craftsman and jewelry designer Louis-Franois Cartier, opened his first boutique in Paris called ‘The House of Cartier’, which was the jewelry boutique, in 1847. He introduced his first Cartier watch in the year 1904 and named it Santos as a dedication to the Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. The deployment-folding clasp was crafted and patented by Louis Cartier in 1910 and after few years the well known Cartier Tank watch was launched.
