A watchmaker named Edouard Heuer founded a company in 1860, which after more than 120 years collaborated with the company TAG which is an abbreviation for Techniques d'Avant Garde to form one of the largest watch manufacturing companies in the world called TAG Heuer. TAG manufactured goods such as ceramic turbochargers for Formula 1 cars. They then acquired the renowned company Heuer who were specialist in manufacturing racing chronographs. Together they revolutionized their range of products to become one of the most recognizable names in Swiss watches. Some of the most popular TAG Heuer wristwatches are the Aquaracer, Link, Carrera, Monaco, Formula 1, Kirium, Monza, and Autavia. Till the end of 2003, TAG Heuer was the official time keeper of F1. Their breakaway from Formula 1 has allowed Siemens to take over the role of official timekeeper’s of the Formula 1 arena. This also brought about the end of the large black overlay used by TAG Heuer that had become symbolic during the late 1990s and early 2000s. |
