The Fatboy was developed by Jukka Setala in 1998. Coined "the beanbag chair for the 21st century," these Finnish cushions were based on the beanbag chair of the past, but were created on a much larger scale. The Fatboy is big enough to use as a spare bed, and comes in a few different styles. There are four styles of Fatboys: the Original Fatboy, the Island Fatbody, the Point Fatboy, and the Doggielounge Fatboy. The Original and the Island Fatboys are the biggest, both large enough to stretch out on completely. The Original takes the shape of a large pillow, while the Island is cylindrical. Both can be repositioned to take different forms such as a chair, a hammock, or a recliner. The Point Fatboy is the smallest Fatboy product. It is not as flexible as the other products because of its size, but it can be used as either a chair or a foot rest. This model is also cylindrical shaped. All of the Fatbody products are made from nylon, making them easy to clean. They also have a PVC coating, making them resistant to water and stains. Plus, the Doggielounge comes with a washable cover to make it easy to clean. These are sold in two sizes to accommodate both small and large dogs. Fatboys are marketed to both children and adults. The company has headquarters in Finland, but has distributors throughout the world, including the United States, Europe, Russia, and Mexico. All of the Fatboys come in a variety of different colors, including fun shades like red, orange, lime, black, blue, purple, and gray. |
