The Kawasaki Motorcycle Company has been manufacturing powerful street bikes and high-performance cruisers since 1954. However, it was almost 10 years later before the company started selling their products in America. Today, the motorcycle company is best known for its Vulcan cruisers and Ninja sports bikes. When designing the 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan, the company said its objective was to create a cruiser with a V-Twin engine with the largest displacement ever seen. With the creation of the Vulcan 2000, the company certainly accomplished its goal. Even though this super cruiser weighs well over 800 pounds, its engine easily displaces 2,053cc. Recently, Kawasaki lost its title for the largest displacement production motorcycle to Triumph with Triumph's introduction of the Rocket III, so it will be interesting to see how Kawasaki responds. Other positive aspects of the Vulcan 2000 include an extremely wide seat and a fuel efficient five-and-a-half gallon gas tank. As a matter of fact, the Vulcan 2000 can travel well over 200 miles on one tank of gas. And if the standard model is not enough for you, Kawasaki has a complete line of add-on accessories designed especially for the Vulcan. Because of its large displacement, the Vulcan 2000 is often compared to the Kawasaki Ninja, a bike whose engine also packs a lot of punch. In contrast to the Vulcan cruiser, the Ninja is a street bike that was built more for speed than cruising. If your goal is to head out on the highway or cruise around the city, the Kawasaki Vulcan is the ideal bike for you. No matter what kind of riding you have in mind, however, Kawasaki's impressive breadth of offerings makes it likely that they will have a bike to suit your tastes and needs.
