The Suzuki Motor Corporation is a company of Japanese origin that has been manufacturing automobiles, motor-cycles, and engine products since 1909. Suzuki’s founder, Michio Suzuki, opened the first factory at Hamamatsu, Shizouka Prefecture, in Japan. Created in 1952, Suzuki’s first bike was called the Power Free. It was an instant success that led to Suzuki introducing different bikes in subsequent years.
Suzuki launched the Intruder bike in 1986. The Intruder was named the Suzuki VS 750 GL Intruder. It had a four-stroke V2-type engine, a five-speed gear box, and a 12-liter fuel capacity. The front brakes were Single disc while the rear had expandable brakes. The total weight of the bike was around 207 kgs. Over the years, Suzuki has launched many versions of the Intruder with some extra features added. The latest model is the Suzuki Intruder 125 LC. Launched in 2006, it is similar to the 1986 model and incorporates similar features, such as a V2 four-stroke engine, a five-speed gear box, and fuel capacity of 12 liters. Besides, the braking system is the same. Weighing around 241 kg, the 2006 model has an electric starter, while the ignition is digital electronic. More changes have been initiated in terms of looks, the clutch, wheel base, fuel system, length, width, and brakes.
Suzuki Motors has expanded its business all over the world. In 1982, General Motors purchased around 5% of Suzuki shares. However, in 2006, GM divested its shares and retained only a 3% stake in the company. Suzuki still owns 11% interest in GM Daewoo Auto and Technology. |
