West Coast Choppers was created in 1980 when Jesse James first customized a bike. He was in seventh grade and sold it to another child for a profit. In 1993, West Coast Choppers was born in Long Beach, California. Each motorcycle produced by West Coast Choppers is unique, with only 200 produced in the last decade. While they started by producing some of the most original motorcycles ever, West Coast Choppers has branched out and now customize cars as well. They have also started working on race cars, including NASCAR and drag racing vehicles. Customizing rides for celebrities like Kid Rock and Keanu Reeves has contributed to the popularity of the body shop, but it was with the television series on the Discovery Channel that viewers around the country became familiar with the eye-catching chopper-style motorcycles and brand of licensed apparel from Jesse James. Part of what contributes to the exclusivity of West Coast Choppers' work is the limited production. Their staff manufactures approximately 15 choppers each year. In addition, they do not prioritize celebrities--work is done strictly on a "first come, first served" basis. Reinforcing this policy was a notable incident involving Fred Durst, front man for Limp Bizkit, who tried to pay extra to receive his chopper faster--West Coast Choppers declined the job. If you don't want to wait for a complete chopper from West Coast Customs, you can purchase apparel and parts bearing their logo. They have a variety of front and rear fenders for motorcycles, as well as pipes, kickstands, and seats. Their apparel line includes footwear, accessories, hats, and a host of tops, letting you express your own style and personality with them.
