Alter Bridge is an American hard rock music group, whose music is a combination of the 70s classic rock and contemporary hard rock. The band was formed by Mark Tremonti, who was the former lead guitarist of the band Creed, Brain Marshall who played bass guitar for Creed, Scott Philips who also was a part of Creed and played drums for them, and Myles Kennedy who was the former lead guitarist and vocalist for the group The Mayfield Four.
The name Alter Bridge comes from a bridge near Marks childhood locality. This bridge is located on Alter Road, at the intersection of Korte and forms the border between Detroit, Michigan and Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan, which as a child Mark was prohibited from crossing. The group has a more classic rock feel to their music as compared to their style when they were together as Creed. Myles Kennedy is a tenor singer and provides a more cutting edge feel to the bands music. Their music also features a number of guitar solos many of which are played at the beginning and the song generally follows. Mark Tremonti has also said that he has had the opportunity to show off his actual talents whilst with Alter Bridge.
Alter Bridge released their debut album titled ‘One Day Remains’ in the year 2004. The album comprises of hits such as "Open Your Eyes," "Find The Real," and "Broken Wings." Their second album is due to release sometime in 2007. |
