| Amerie Mi Marie Rogers is an American R&B singer and songwriter. She was born on the January 12, 1980 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, and is popularly known as Amerie. Her father is African American and her mother is South Korean. She earned her degree in English and Fine Arts from Georgetown University in 2000. Amerie started her music career with her track from Nas' Stillmatic titled “Rule”. Her single "Why Don't We Fall In Love", from her debut album ‘All I Have’ got a lot of radio airplay. Rich Harrison wrote and produced her complete first album, except for the song ‘Outro’ which Amerie co-wrote. The album went gold with nearly 623,000 copies sold. Amerie released her second album titled ‘Touch’ on April 26, 2005. This album too was largely produced by Rich Harrison. It debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200 and #3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop charts. The RIAA certified the album ‘Gold’ in August of the same year. The album also received two Grammy nominations in 2006. Her popularity soared with her single ‘1Thing’, which became her first top ten hit and it reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks. In the autumn of 2005, Amerie launched her second single ‘Touch’. She also appeared on Ricky Martin’s ‘I Don’t Care’ along with Fat Joe. Amerie is currently busy with her third album titled ‘None of the Above’, alongside Rich Harrison, Bryan Michael Cox and others. The album is due for a fall of 2006 release. |
