Bon Jovi is an American rock n’ roll band fronted by the lead singer Jon Bon Jovi. They achieved huge success in the 1980s as a hair metal band. They have successfully integrated different elements of rock like hard rock, heartland rock, country rock, classic rock and are good at performing unplugged as well. According to MTV, Bon Jovi has sold 33 million albums in the US alone and 110 million albums worldwide. They have performed concerts in Asia, Europe, Australia, Canada, South America and the US.
The band consists of the following members; Jon Bon Jovi who leads the band, plays the guitar, the piano and the harmonica; Richie Sambora on the lead guitars, backup vocals and the talk box; David Bryan plays the keyboards, synthesizers and gives backup vocals; Tico Torres on the drums and percussions and Hugh McDonald plays the bass guitar. Their first album ‘Bon Jovi’ was released in January 1984 and sold more than 500,000 copies. The band released their second album ‘7800° Fahrenheit’ which got very bad reviews in 1985. To prove that they were not one-hit-wonders, they released their third album ‘Slippery When Wet’ to a worldwide success through hits like ‘You Give Love A Bad Name’, ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’ and ‘Wanted Dead Or Alive’.
Ever since, they have been delivering hit after hit. Their albums till now, have been on number one either on the US charts, UK charts or the European charts. Jon Bon Jovi, the lead singer, apart from performing in the rock band, has acted in many movies like Cry Wolf, U-571, Home Grown and many more; as well as TV shows like Sex And The City, Ally McBeal, etc. |
