| Discovered by one of hip-hop’s biggest producers Dr. Dre, Eminem is no ordinary rapper. Dre first heard Eminem as he freestyled on a local Los Angeles radio station and promptly ordered a man hunt to track him down. After having launched Snoop Dogg years back, Dre had found his latest protégé, one who would attain more success than Snoop Dogg and Dre put together. Termed as the highest selling rapper of all time by the Guinness World Book of Records, Eminem has 7 albums and a hit movie and soundtrack to his name. Born on born October 17, 1972, Marshall Mathers uses Eminem or Slim Shady (his alter-ego) as his stage name. He has a daughter named Hailie Jade Scott by his ex-wife Kimberly Ann Scott, whom he married and divorced twice. He has extensively used Hailie’s name in several of his smash hits including ’97 Bonnie & Clyde’, ‘Hailie’s Song’, ‘When I’m Gone’, ‘Mockingbird’ , and used her voice in the song ‘My Dad’s Gone Crazy’. Performing since 13 years of age, Slim Shady released his first independent album in 1996 titled ‘Infinite’. The album received no air play and critics claimed that the album sounded too similar to Nas and AZ’s style of rapping. Three years later in 1999, Shady released The ‘Slim Shady’ LP, which went triple platinum and included hits such as ‘My Name Is’ and ‘Guilty Conscience’. Follow up albums by Slim Shady include ‘The Marshall Mathers’ LP (2000), ‘The Eminem Show’ (2002), ‘8 Mile Soundtrack’ (2002), ‘Encore’ (2004), and ‘Curtain Call: The Hits’ (2005). All the above albums have debuted at the peak position on the UK as well as the US music charts and have gone multi platinum. His track ‘Stan’ featured at the #10 spot on the 100 Greatest Hip-hop and Rap Singles of all time according to a survey conducted by ‘Top40-Charts.com’. Slim Shady has won an Academy and Golden Globe awards, 9 Grammy Awards, 9 MTV Video Music Awards, and 5 American Music Awards among many others.
