| Born on March 26, 1968, in the east Tennessee town of Luttrell, Kenny Chesney is a popular pop singer and songwriter. He is the son of David Chesney and Karen Chandler. He changed his teenage dream of becoming a professional basketball player to turn into a singer when he was gifted a guitar while in college. Chesney graduated with a B.S. degree in Mass Communications from East Tennessee State University in 1990. His music venture began when he joined a bluegrass band and started writing songs. He was a regular at restaurants, local bars and fraternity houses as well as his University campus hangouts. He recorded his first album in 1991, at Classic Recording Studio in Bristol. In 1992, he signed a contract with Acuff-Rose Music, and the year after that with Capricorn Records. Thereafter, he signed on with BNA records and cut five albums with the company: “All I Need To Know”, “Me And You”, “I Will Stand”, “Everywhere We Go” and the most recent “Greatest Hits” album. His first major hit, “Fall in Love”, came in 1995. He had his first number one hit in 1997, “She’s Got It All” — a song that graced the top of Billboard’s country singles chart for three weeks. Kenny Chesney married Renée Zellweger on May 9, 2005. He wrote a song for her, “You Had Me From Hello”, based on the famous line from her film “Jerry Maguire”. Their short-lived marriage was annulled in December 2005. On May 23, 2006, Chesney was named the “Entertainer of the Year” at the Academy of Country Music Awards. |
