| This newcomer American R&B singer and song writer, born on October 24, 1983, was a foster child adopted by Yvonne Cole. She grew up in Oakland, California, and was raised in a tough neighborhood and had a tumultuous childhood. Her passion for music pulled her through. Keyshia Cole did her first recording with MC Hammer at the age of twelve. She was discovered and signed by Ron Fair, president of A&M Records, when she moved to Los Angeles, California. In 2004, she performed the song track “Never” with rapper Eve for the “Barbershop 2: Back in Business” movie. Rapper/producer Kayne West helped her with her debut album “The Way It Is” (2005). The song “I Changed My Mind”, which was produced by West, was Cole’s first release after which she went on tour with Kayne and Usher. The third single of the album, “I Should Have Cheated”, brought her acclaim and became one of the biggest female R&B hits of the year. The fourth single, “Love”, was also quite a success, reaching the number three spot on the R&B charts. It is her biggest hit to date. In collaboration with Kayne West and Twista, Cole has also recorded a song called “Impossible” for the “Mission: Impossible III” soundtrack. She contributed her vocals to a charity single called “I Have This Dream”, written and produced by Michael Jackson. Cole is currently working on her second album, “Tears from A Soldier’s Heart”, produced by Kayne West and Cool and Dre. |
