| Mandy Moore was just 15 years old when she released her first album, “So Real”, on December 7, 1999. Moore was initially considered just another teenager attempting to join the bandwagon after Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Jessica Simpson. Although she wasn’t as successful as any of her peers, her album did garner platinum status in the US. However, Moore has been fairly critical of her music and even went on to say that if she had the money, she would refund all those who purchased her first two albums. In 2003 Moore released ‘Coverage’, her fourth album followed by ‘The Best of Mandy Moore’ in 2004. Although singing is her first passion, Mandy Moore has tried her hand at television shows as well as movies, and has been fairly successful. Moore has hosted the Mandy Moore Show on MTV. She was also brand ambassador for Neutrogena for a while and modeled for Coach hand-bags in Japan, and a clothing brand in the Philippines. Mandy Moore starred in ‘A Walk to Remember’ opposite actor Shane West. The sound-track of this film had four songs sung by Moore. ‘How to Deal’ was Moore’s second film, a romantic comedy which did not do very well at the box office. Moore followed that with ‘Chasing Liberty’ another romantic comedy. The 2006 film ‘American Dreamz’ sees Moore taking on a negative role, something that was new to her. Born on April 10, 1984 in Nashua, New Hampshire, Moore’s inclination towards music developed after she saw the musical ‘Oklahoma!’ Moore sang the national anthem at several sports events. It was at one such event that she was noticed by a FedEx employee, who sent her demo to Epic Records. Moore also toured with the Backstreet Boys in 1999. |
