My Chemical Romance (abbreviated as MCR) is a modern rock and roll band that portrays horror stories and fantasy lyrics. The band members are Gerard Way, the lead vocal artist, Mickey Way, the bass handler, Bob Bryar, the drummer and Frank Iero, the guitar player.
The Misfits, a punk rock band which featured horror in their music and songs, and other such bands like Iron Maiden and The Smiths/Morrissey are the main inspirations behind MCR. Mickey named the band from the book, Three Tales of Chemical Romance written by Irvine Welsh. MCR was formed by the vocalist Gerard and Matt Pelissier. Skylines and Turnstiles is the first song written by Gerard Way. I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love was the first album that was recorded in 2002. The band members toured with other rock bands such as Underoath, Sparta, As Tall as Lions, The Used and the Taking Back Sunday. Their second album was recorded in the year 2003 in Reprise Records. The album Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge consists of three songs I'm Not Okay (I Promise), Helena and The Ghost of You. The album is a scary story with violent music. Their first own tour was in the year 2005 along with Alkaline Trio, Reggie and the Full Effect. To help the victims of Tsunami disaster MCR and The Used worked together and released Under Pressure on internet outlets, iTunes and in the album In Love and Death (The Used’s production). They also include their own life stories in the songs.
The group members were acquainted with each other since high school and within few years after their graduation they recorded their debut album which resulted into plenty of touring offers for them. They have been on roads traveling, making music, getting inspirations and writing songs for a long time. |
