Born as Alecia Beth Moore on September 8th, 1979, she is known to the public as P!nk; also written as Pink. She is the daughter of James and Judy Moore and was raised in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. She has inherited an Irish, German, Lithuanian and Jewish enthinicity. She would frequently go to clubs like Club Fever where eventually she was noticed by a representative in search of an additional member to an R&B group.
Alecia Beth Moore became the member of the Basic-Instinct group which was short-lived. She later joined the Choice group under LaFace Records but the group eventually dissolved. She cut her debut album “Can’t Take Me Home” under LaFace Records in 2000. The album went double platinum and the single “There You Go” was voted as the number 2 breakup song of all time by US magazine. She won her first Grammy along with the other collaborative singers Lil’ Kim, Mya and Christina Aguilera for the 2001 hit “Lady Marmalade” that featured in the Moulin Rouge movie. M!ssundaztood was her second album released in 2001 which she co-wrote and co-produced with former 4 Non Blondes vocalist Linda Perry. The album showcased more creative control and featured songs like “Get the Party Started”, “Just Like a Pill” and “Family Portrait”. Her third album “Try This” released in 2003 reached the top 10 on album charts and the single “Trouble” bagged her a second Grammy Award. Her fourth album “I’m Not Dead”, released in 2006 stirred up a lot of controversy even before it was released. The single “Stupid Girls” has become quiet popular as Pink has been very liberal with the lyrics mocking the current crazy celebrity bandwagon.
Alecia Beth Moore was voted at #12 for her vocal skills by the UK Music Hall of Fame of the 21st century. She is married to motorcycle racer Carey Hart. |
