The Killers are a synth rock band comprising of band members: Brandon Flowers who does vocals and plays the synthesizer, Dave Keuning plays the guitar, Mark Stoermer plays bass, and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. plays drums and vocals. The band got together in 2002 and is based in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Before the guys got together and formed the band each of them individually had different jobs. Brandon Flowers had dropped out of college and worked as a bellhop at the Gold Coast Hotel. Keuning was originally from Pella, Iowa first dropped out of Kirkwood Community, College and then also dropped out of the University Of Iowa; he then shifted to Vegas in the beginning of 2000 and worked at the Banana Republic store. Mark delivered medical supplies and studied philosophy at UNLV; Vannucci worked as a photographer at the Little Chapel of Flowers, he also drove a pedicab at the Desert Passage mall in Aladdin hotel. He studied classical percussion at UNLV. The band rose to fame with their debut album titled ‘Hot Fuss’ which released on June 7, 2004. The album went triple platinum and the single "Mr. Brightside" reached Top 10 in the UK when it released. The bands music is influenced by music from the 80s especially ‘New Wave’ music. Their second album entitled ‘Sam's Town’ is due to release towards the end of 2006.
The Killers have quickly grown in popularity all over the world. They have been nominated for a number of international awards including the Grammy’s, WMA, and MTV Video Music Awards. |
