Alfa Spider

ALFA, or Alfa Romeo, is a world famous Italian automobile manufacturer. Established in the beginning of the twentieth century, this company was set up by Cavaliere Ugo Stella, a Milanese aristocrat, in collaboration with Alexandre Darracq, the French automobile manufacturer. Initially, this collaboration produced only Darracq automobiles, before car production was halted, during World War I. The name of this company was changed to Alfa Romeo, in 1920. Alfa Romeo cars have featured in several famous Hollywood films such as â??Octopussy,â?? and â??the Graduate.â?? In the mid-1980s, Fiat took over this business, to form the Alfa Lancia Spa. This Italian car manufacturer has introduced many high performance car models through the years such as the GTV, the Spider, the Giula, the Stradale, the Montreal, and the Sprint. Their first roadster, the Alfa Romeo Spider was introduced, in 1966. The car design was based on the Guilia 105 chassis using a variant of their 1570cc twin camshaft four cylinder engines. These powerful engines gave a maximum output of 109 HP. The Spider model also featured a five speed transmission, independent front suspension, and disc brakes. The advanced crumple zones provided added safety to the driver and passengers. This car has undergone constant mechanical and cosmetic changes in the design, since it was first introduced. The 1750 Spider Veloce, with a 118 HP 1779cc engine, was launched, in 1967. The series was expanded further with the introduction of the 1300 Spider Junior the next year. In 1971, the Spider Veloce got a more powerful 1962cc, 132 HP engine. It was then known as the 2000 Spider Veloce. Overall, the Spider models are well-designed, high performance cars available in several different designs and colors.
