Steve Patmont started Patmont Motor Werks in 1985 after building a prototype for a motorized personal transport device in his garage. He called it the Go-Ped. Initially building Go-Peds for only friends and family, he realized the evident market opportunities and decided to patent the design. By 1989, the company was already growing and the garage was too-small a place to continue production. Over the years, he bought a number of warehouses in Livermore, California where he could expand his already successful. The fact that itâs a family owned and operated company, their products are designed to capture a trend-setting, free spirit that exists and nurtures a very individualistic lifestyle. Their products include electric variant Go-Peds, City Cruising Go-Peds, Competition Go-Peds and Karts. Besides, they also have Tow-Peds, a towing device that can be attached to your Go-Ped scooters. They also have the Go-Ped Bag to hold Sport Ped or Know-Ped scooters, and the Sat-Squach Seat, a shock absorbing seat for all Go-Ped scooters. They also have an apparel line called Go-Gear and Go-Jewelry with Go-Ped logo necklaces and bracelets. Starting off, Steve aimed his product at suppliers of yachts and personal aircrafts as a portable, alternative transportation device. It has evolved into an extreme sport and now have official scootercross races. The International Go-Ped Association (IGPA) was started by Ron Fortenbury in Omaha, Nebraska in response to male instinct that âeverything on wheels must be raced!â |
