Kenworth Truck Company is a division of PACCAR Inc. and is headquartered in Kirkland, Washington. Kenworth manufactures medium and heavy-duty trucks used by shipping companies and other businesses. Kenworth was established in 1923; the name is a combination of the two primary shareholders' (and founders') names, Kent and Worthington. Kenworth is one of the top class eight heavy-duty truck producers in the United States. A class eight truck is any tractor with less than five axles and a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of more than 33,000 lbs. The class eight classification is established by the Federal Highway Administration; its classes go all the way from class one (a passenger car or truck) to class 13 (a more than six-axle, multi-trailer truck). Kenworth trucks are used not only for shipping, but also as dump trucks and as delivery trucks. The T8000 can do line haul, bulk haul, regional haul and pick up and delivery. The T8000 can also be converted to a dump truck or a mixer. The W900 is a sensible truck for owner/operators or drivers who spend all their time on the road, as the truck is specifically designed with the driver's comfort in mind. The cab is quiet and all the controls are positioned to be in easy reaching distance. Reviewers have noted that the eight-bag suspension makes for a smooth ride. The T2000 is a line haul and regional haul truck that is also designed for driver comfort, with an ergonomic cab design intended to reduce driver fatigue. The T2000 is also particularly aerodynamic, in order to increase fuel efficiency and reduce wear on the truck. |
