About Recreational Vehicle

A vehicle can be classified as a recreational vehicle (RV) if people can live in it while they travel and vacation. There are a lot of different vehicles designs that can accomplish this purpose, and individuals investigating buying or renting a full-size RV will run into some special terminology used in the industry. There are three types of self-contained motorized RVs: Class A motor homes, Class B camper vans, and Class C motor homes. Class A motor homes are the largest of the RVs, and they resemble buses in appearance. Considered a luxury RV, a Class A motor home is constructed on a specially designed chassis. Class A RVs do not get good gas mileage, but they are convenient and comfortable to travel and vacation in. A Class B RV is built on a conventional van chassis. A raised roof is added to create a living space. Class B RVs are comparatively easy to drive, versatile, and more fuel efficient than Class A RVs. They also have much less interior space than Class A RVs. Class C motor homes are sometimes called mini-motor homes. They are built on van or truck frames. Class C RVs have overhead sleeping sections that hang over the cabs. They cost less than Class A RVs, but are not as large. Another kind of RV is the towable RV or trailer. There are two types of full-size towable RVs. Travel trailers can be towed by cars, trucks, or vans using a conventional trailer hitch. Fifth-wheel RVs are two-level trailers meant to be towed by pickup trucks outfitted with special hitches. Smaller, towable RVs or trailers include tent trailers (also sometimes called pop-ups or folding trailers), truck campers, and toy haulers. Smaller RVs usually cost less at initial purchase than full-size RVs, and function well for shorter pleasure trips, camping expeditions, and similar uses. An advantage of towable RVs is that the RV can be detached from the towing vehicle at one's travel destination, allowing the vehicle to be driven for errands and so on without the RV attached.
