About Rv

The term RV encompasses many different new and used vehicles that serve different recreational purposes at prices ranging from a few thousand dollars to more than a million dollars. These vehicles can be broadly classified as either self-contained motorized RVs (motorhomes) or as towable vehicles (trailers). Choosing the right type of RV for your needs involves knowing what you will use it for. Full-size RVs and motorhomes make sense for people who will be traveling long distances (e.g., cross country), or who will be living in their RVs most of the time. People who want an RV primarily for seasonal recreation may find towable RVs more convenient and less costly. Since a towable RV may be detached from the towing vehicle, the towing vehicle may be used by itself during the off season or when the RV itself is parked at a destination. Both kinds of RVs can provide substantial comfort and convenience while traveling, and many can be quite luxurious. If you are considering purchasing a motorized RV and are not familiar with driving one, it may make sense to rent one for a period of time. ''Test-driving'' an RV in this way will help you determine what conveniences and features are most important to you. If you suspect a towable RV may better suit your needs, consider how and where you will be using it, and how many people you will be traveling with. Large towable RVs such as travel trailers and fifth wheels offer comfort and living space, but may be difficult to navigate in tight spaces and costly to keep fueled. Smaller towable RVs, such as tent trailers (also called pop-ups or folding trailers) and truck campers may be a practical choice for seasonal camping and fishing trips and for exploring wilderness areas. Some tent trailers provide enough living space, comfort, and convenience to keep an average-sized family happy on a vacation, while a truck camper may be ideal for adults who like to go on fishing trips or ''get away from it all'' in back country areas.
