Scion is a United States-only division of Toyota Motor Corporation founded in 2003. It is also a brand of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. Scion was launched by Toyota in an effort to grab a sizeable portion of the Generation Y market. Scion is Toyota's entry-level brand, slotting below Toyota in the lineup. Scion currently has three vehicles in its line-up: the Scion xA, a subcompact hatchback; the Scion xB, a subcompact wagon; the Scion tC, a sports car. The mass appeal of the Scion brand, among the youth, lies in the fact that it offers numerous standard features and made the addition of optional features, very easy.

The most successful of all the Scion models is the XB wagon. It sports a box-styled design and its appearance is a blend of flat panels and 90-degree angles, which are highlighted by a ground-effects kit. The xB is a tall seat design which provides its occupants with ample legroom and headroom. The xB has some key items standard including A/C, power windows/locks/mirrors, keyless entry, antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, vehicle stability control, and like other Scions, a handy first-aid kit.

The xB is powered by a 1.5litre 16-valve VVT-i 4-cylinder Double OverHead Cam (DOHC) engine, which gives 103hp @ 6000rpm and 101lb-ft of torque @ 4200rpm. Transmissions available are a 4-speed automatic and a 5-speed manual. The steering is a Power assisted rack-and-pinion steering which gives the xB a 36.1ft steering circle. The front suspension is an Independent MacPerson strut, while the rear consists of a torsion beam. Both the front and rear suspensions have stabilizer bars. There is a power assisted disc brake in the front and a power assisted rear brake in the rear. The xB comes equipped with an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS). The xB is 64.6” tall, 66.5” wide and measures 155.3” in length. It has a wheelbase of 98.4“gives a ground clearance of 6.1”. It has a seating capacity of 5 and weighs around 2415/2470 lbs (manual/automatic). The fuel tank has a capacity of 11.9gal and tires are all-season with 15” wheel covers. The xB gives 46.1/45.7” of headroom (front/rear), 487.6/50.0” of shoulder room (front/rear), 50.6/50.6” hip room (front/rear) and 45.3/38.0” of leg room (front/rear). The scion gives 30 mpg in the city and 33-34 mpg on the highway.
