Nissan introduced the first of their Z cars under the Datsun name in 1969. The model numbers on these cars; 240, 260, 280, 300, and 350, referred to their engine sizes; 2.4 liter, 2.6 liter, 2.8 liter, 3.0 liter, and 3.5 liter, respectively. These cars gained fame for their superb handling and power combined with their low price points. The Nissan 240Z was by far the most popular of the 200 series Zs because the later models got heavier which robbed them of the extra power their larger engines could provide. Popularity declined until the 1990s with the introduction of the Z32, a Twin Turbo 300Z. The Twin Turbos had more power, improved suspensions and steering, and bigger rear tires. The Twin Turbo Z32 only lasted from 1990 to 1996 because of more stringent, pollution regulations and a rising sticker price. For those six years, though, it managed to win accolades from major automotive publications and drivers alike. The Twin Turbo Z32 brought the Z cars back to life for a new generation of drivers.
